2018 Farm-to-Chili Cook Off

Saturday, October 6th at the St. Johns Farmers Market
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

We're gearing up for this year's competition! Enter your favorite recipe today for a chance to be crowned this year's chili cook of the year. Also, we're going to need a lot of taste testers, so start doing some stomach stretches in preparation. 

Competition Rules: 

  • Turn in your registration form by 9/29/2018+ $5 entry fee

  • One entry per person. Chili must be homemade & fresh!

  • Your chili must feature at least 2 ingredients from the Farmers Market

  • Plan ahead to purchase your ingredients in time for the cook-off! The market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. ­ 2 p.m.

  • Chili must be delivered to the Farmers Market in a large crock pot between 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th.

  • Please submit 1 copy of your chili recipe to the Farmers Market staff, highlighting your 2 Farmers Market ingredients (in person or email manager@sjfarmersmarket.com).

  • Tasting and voting will happen from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m.

  • Registrants need to be present at the Farmers Market at 1:00 p.m. for the award presentation!

  • Registrants are responsible for removing their crock pots between 1:15 and 1:45 p.m. on October 6th.

There is a $5 entry fee that can be paid via cash or check. You can pay that at the Info Booth at the Farmers Market or bring it with you the day of the competition.

2017 Winner - Heru-Ka Anu

2016 Winner - Brian Wienez

On Saturday, October 1st, Brian Wienez, a chef at The Sudra here in St. Johns, walked away the champion! His spicy chili recipe won the hearts of resident voters.
