SURJ Portland Community Organizing Workshop

Cost: $10 per person, free to poor/working class people.
All money raised will go to a POC led partner organization.

Do you want to do social justice work but find yourself struggling with where to start or how to be most effective? Is your organization wondering how to connect with people and make gains for community change? Spend the day digging into your work at the SURJ PDX Community Organizing Workshop.

In this workshop you will get the opportunity to:

  • Develop and hone your strategy for creating social change
  • Identify potential allies & leverage points
  • Learn to build power person by person, block by block
  • Build with other organizers to share information and ideas.

This workshop is intended for existing groups of people (informal groups are fine) who want to organize to fight for justice and have ideas for projects. The entire leadership team for your group would be welcome to attend the workshop, a minimum of 2 people from each organization must attend.

There is limited space in this workshop! Organizations will be asked to complete a short application detailing their current work and interests. One application per organization required, please indicate on the application how many people will be attending from your group.
