FLOOR Center for Dance Grand Opening!

Located in the St. John’s community, FLOOR Center for Dance is a training center for movers of all ages, abilities, and skill levels, and is a space for growth, exploration, and experimentation in dance and movement arts. FLOOR offers competitive rates to encourage community involvement, aiming to ignite the dance community and provide an atmosphere that encourages passion, commitment, and innovation to all who walk through the door.

On November 3rd, they are opening their 1500 square foot studio space and training center to the Portland and Vancouver community. FLOOR is owned and directed by Stephanie Gilliland: choreographer, composer, multimedia dance artist, performer and educator. She is the Artistic Director of Tongue Dance Project, a collective for choreographic exploration and artistic development in contemporary dance. In addition to offering community classes, FLOOR Center for Dance will act as the training center for Tongue Dance Project. Co-managing the space are, Annika Mossberg, FLOOR Instructor, and Tongue Dance Project dancers and FLOOR Instructors, Lauren Smith and Adrianna Audoma. Together they have worked to provide a professional training space to dancers and creative movers alike.

On November 3rd, they will be offering a free day of dance classes to people ages 2 and up, followed by a family-friendly evening event. FLOOR is located at the historic Cathedral Park Place, an artistic hub connected to Occidental Brewing just below to the St. John’s Bridge. With the building’s stunning views, rich history, and vibrant artistic influence, the experience of Cathedral Park Place is memorable.

Join them for free daytime classes (offered to you and your family), followed by our evening open house providing entertainment, food+drink, and best of all: dance!
