St. Johns Swapnplay is Hiring for Swapnplay Executive Director

Detail and community-oriented individual sought to oversee community playspace program. Duties of the Executive Director include on-site facility management, administration, program management, staff and volunteer coordination, communication with members, and outreach. This is a part time position. The mission of St. Johns SwapnPlay is "Connecting families in an atmosphere that engages children in purposeful play while deepening our connection to each other and to the earth".

Swapnplay Playspace: Our 4,000-square-foot playspace engages children in an abundance of diverse, interactive activities while providing access to shared resources and opportunities for parents and caregivers to connect. From our inception in 2009, we have worked with our partners and parent volunteers to build an affordable, vibrant, inviting, and safe Playspace with lots of activities to build cognitive and social skills as well as cultivating imagination, creativity and self-discovery.

Key Responsibilities: Partner with the Board of Directors (BOD):
Prepare and present monthly report for the BOD
Serve as ex-officio on BOD committees
Act as liaison between BOD and organization
Attend BOD meetings
See that the BOD is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it
Be responsible for maintaining sound financial practice
Work with BOD in developing a budget each year
Ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines

Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Maintain General Liability Insurance
Maintain Directors & Officers Insurance
File CT-12 annually
Renew Assumed Business Name annually
File taxes yearly in conjunction with BOD Treasurer
Maintain 501c3 status
Review lease yearly
Maintain property tax exemption
Maintain healthy relationship and open communication with Red Sea Church
Work with Red Sea Church to address issues with use and function of space
Manage emails

Ensure staff and work study student have the tools needed to perform job duties
Evaluate staff performance semi-annually
Support staff in professional development and work life balance
Manage and motivate staff to fulfill their duties
Work in conjunction with staff to ensure efficient management of the organization

Partner with non-profits to serve community
Monitor, adjust, and create policy for members and outside partnerships
Ensure safety of the space
Ensure programming fits mission of organization
Encourage culture of connection, inclusion, and community at Swapnplay through activities, open communication, and inclusive language, materials, and images
Curate the overall playspace to ensure activities are offered that incorporate safety, community, and play-based learning
Oversee general safety and hygiene guidelines and communicate with facility management as needed
Recruit new member families
Create a monthly newsletter
Answer phone calls and emails within a 24-48 hour period
Oversee and update website
Moderate the Facebook Swapnplay Playspace Members group page
Post regularly to the Facebook St. Johns Swapnplay public page
Update information on all relevant websites (Google+, Yelp, etc.)
Market through events, Facebook, and kids activity calendars
Update public calendar
Coordinate with members, teachers, and agencies to provide age-appropriate and mission-centered activities

Provide feedback to members about playspace guidelines
Meet with members for direct feedback as required
Meet with members over grievances as required utilizing a provided grievance record report
Address member issues
Ensure members are informed and following playspace guidelines

Basic Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and ability to keep track of many details in a busy environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience in building community, teamwork, and collaboration
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Facebook, and similar applications
Experience motivating and coordinating volunteers and/or community members
Familiarity with and enthusiasm for St. Johns Swapnplay’s Mission
Ability to quickly establish a positive rapport with individuals and families with diverse philosophies and personalities
Ability to self manage and stay motivated
Ability to work independently while reporting to the BOD
Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to lift 25 pounds
Must pass a criminal and abuse background check
Must go through CPR/First Aid training, paid for by St. Johns Swapnplay

Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience
Background in non-profit organizations
Familiarity with child development
Experience in fundraising and donation solicitations
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Salary/Wage: $18-23/hr. DOE
