Diesel Mechanic - Pro Truck Lines - Full-time

A full-time opportunity for a Fleet Maintenance Technician/Mechanic. In this role, you would be responsible for the day-to-day equipment maintenance on the fleet equipment consisting of preventative maintenance and minor to major repairs on Class 8 trucks and trailers. Mechanics play a major role in keeping drivers up and running in safe equipment. Hydraulic skills would be a definite bonus. More information below. Apply here.

Job Functions:

Fleet maintenance and repair in the shop
Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in shop
Welding repair of trailer and/or truck parts
Troubleshoot breakdowns and advise on repairs as needed.
Identify worn and damaged parts (all parts to include major components), repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed.
Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and ensure vehicle in proper operating condition
Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailer equipment including batteries, lube oil and filter changes, and be able to inspect brakes, and identify engine and transmission leaks.

Skills Needed:

Good working mechanical knowledge and communication skills
Strong skills in electrical and diesel mechanics.
Be a self-starter and continued excellent attendance record a must.
Team-oriented and committed to quality work
Must be able to arrive on time each day, allowing for freeway traffic and weather conditions

Requirements:

Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge in identifying parts and components of diesel truck engines, transmissions, and braking mechanisms; proven ability to disassemble, work on, and reassemble diesel truck parts and machinery; ability to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic problems, make repairs.
Own roll-away tool cabinet and various equipment required to conduct all types of repairs
Ability to work unsupervised
Valid CDL or driver’s License with an insurable driving record

Minimum Required experience:

3 years’ experience as a diesel engine mechanic
1 year of fleet maintenance and repair experience
Practical experience in electrical systems and hydraulics repair
Forklift repair experience a plus, but not required
