Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Research Engineers with the execution of technical project work

  • Sample preparation for metallography, SEM examination, micro-hardness testing, tensile testing, Brinell hardness testing, Charpy V-notch testing, DWTT, bend testing, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, Laboratory Heat Treatment

  • Participate in mill trials and reporting of mill trial results through written and oral communication

  • Must be self-driven, able to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be technically sound concerning mechanical testing equipment and must know societal specifications governing mechanical testing

  • Provide guidance/training to less experienced laboratory technicians

  • Must work in concert with other laboratory technicians to achieve both production-focused testing and research-focused testing

  • Must be capable of operating a light optical microscope and associated software
