You know that saying, “It takes a village…”? Well, here at SJCO we firmly believe that it takes a village to strengthen our community and ensure that all neighbors are thriving. Members of our Opportunity Builders program are core supporters who share wisdom, pledge 1 penny out of every dollar they make, and champion our mission. In return, they get first access to programming and events and a chance to interact and advise on core issues facing our neighborhood.
We would be honored to have you join our village of Opportunity Builders.
DETAILS OF THE OPPORTUNITY BUILDERS PROGRAM:
As an Opportunity Builder, you will join and support our village in at least 3 ways:
Sharing wisdom: we have deep respect and appreciation for our Opportunity Builders and value the knowledge and experiences they bring to the table. We bring questions and ideas to our Opportunity Builders and leverage the feedback we receive to enhance our services and programming.
Supporting with donations: all donations are tax-deductible and go directly to our work in St. Johns and Cathedral Park. Your support will make it possible for us to advocate for more affordable housing, support our small business community, strengthen our local workforce, and foster community engagement.
Building our network: we ask our Opportunity Builders to work alongside side us as we grow our village of supporters and increase our access to resources. That could include bringing a friend to an event, introducing us to new funding opportunities, or sharing our events on with your networks.
Here are some of the ways we thank Opportunity Builders:
- The Facebook group is a place for Opportunity Builders from around the neighborhood, city, and state to share wisdom and resources and engage with SJCO directly.
- Invitations to quarterly think tanks and happy hours/dinners with staff, partners, and city employees/officials.
- Special early invites and access to SJCO events, like our annual fundraiser.
- Special recognition on the Center for Opportunity website and in our community office space.
We ask that Opportunity Builders make a real commitment, but one that is different and appropriate for each individual. Opportunity Builders pledge 1 penny out of every dollar they make (1%) to support our work in the community (i.e., if you make $40,000 a year your contribution would be $400).
