2023 Annual Report

The end of 2023 marks the successful completion of the 15th season of St. Johns Farmers Market, and we think it was our best one yet! Voted the #1 Farmers Market in Oregon in America’s Farmers Market Celebration 2023 (thanks to you!), there is so much to celebrate!

  • All together, our 72 market vendors earned a whopping $529,111 in revenue this season. This represents a 29.6% increase in overall vendor revenue compared to 2022! Shoppers can feel good spending their hard-earned money at the St. Johns Farmers Market, knowing that it directly supports the farmers, food artisans, and crafters of the market, and stays in the local economy.

  • We distributed a total of $44,848 to food insecure residents of our community through our food access programs (SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, EBT Cash, Produce Match, and suma). This represents a 61% increase compared to 2022. We also accepted Farm Direct Nutrition Program vouchers, benefitting low-income senior citizens and WIC participants.

  • On average, 1,605 customers visited the market per week. This is an increase of 28.5% over 2022 attendance. St. Johns really showed up for small farms and businesses this year!

  • For the first time since 2017, we hosted a Harvest Market in November and a Holiday Market in December. These additional markets were so successful that we plan to repeat them again in 2024.

We would like to thank our market sponsors, who make the continued operation and growth of St. Johns Farmers Market possible! Thank you to Prosper Portland, USDA, St. Johns Church, St. Johns Bachelor Club, Farmers Market Fund, Metro, Double Up Food Bucks, EMSWCD, iQ Credit Union, and the Port of Portland for supporting us.

Lastly, we would like to say thank you to the entire St. Johns community! Your enthusiasm, support, and continued patronage of the St. Johns Farmers Market means everything to the small family farms, local food producers, and craftspeople who make up the heart of our market, and we are grateful for you.

See you on May 4 for opening day of the 2024 St. Johns Farmers Market!
