Owners Linh Bien and husband Andy Tran originally opened Banh Mi Up as a food truck in 2018. After losing their parking spot, they found themselves opening a store in St Johns in November of 2019!
Andy had spent several years in the U.S Army and as a result, was eventually deployed to Asia. Thus began his culinary adventure. Realizing that food has the power to bring people together, Banh Mi Up was born.
The restaurant compliments the suburban vibe of North Portland by bringing together Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Taiwanese influences. The menu has a constantly rotating seasonal menu and has something to offer for everyone. “Some of our staples include our modern Banh Mi that is served with cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro and mayo with a variety of proteins available such as Roasted Pork Belly topped cashew sauce, po-boy style shrimp with chili sauce; as well as rice and vermicelli bowls filled with seasonal vegetables and proteins options such as grilled chicken, pork and shrimp, plus soups, salads, and house made beverages, that will give you a unique dining experience and leave you wanting seconds.”
Make sure you stop by during Sandwich Week (June 5th-June 11th) and tryout the $8 Pork N Egg Sandwich for dine and take out (only available on their website). They are also running a promotion during Sandwich week of $5 off on your entire purchase of $35 or more, just mention “St Johns Post” during checkout. The offer is valid for the entire week and there is no limit on the usage.
